Friday's Five ... Summer Time

What I love, or not, about summer....

1. One thing I do enjoy is the time and space that comes without set meetings and some free time for quiet walks, and writing, drawing, and sleep when needed.

2. I love the water and lakes and green lawns, leaves and rich colour of flowers of all kinds. I take mental snapshots for weary cold winter days. But, also using the graceful snowy mental pictures I took in winter to keep me cool in the heat of summer.

3. Listening to Nature's live musicals and drinking in the treasured scenes painted by the Master Painter.

4. No, I also do not like biting bugs, spiders, and things that cause allergies.
I take anti-histamine with me...always.

5. Breathing fresh air, feeling the wind of spirit blowing by and softly brushing my face.

Hmmmm! Sounds delicious, can't wait!

Are life and death found apart from each other?

Everywhere I Am !
Everywhere I am, God is!
Everywhere I turn, God is there!

It's a wonder to experience reality!
Inner sight will see, inner ears hear,
My whole being rejoices in my Creator!
I am part of Creation - just being here.

Let's share in building God's New Creation!
Where we sing and dance, raise our voices.
Invite all around to the fire-side for warmth,
In its fiery musical glow; we will make choices.

I climb a high mountain for its ancient view,
My spirit awe-inspired falls in its gentle sway.
The power of height, and the lowest valley, both
Tell their glorious revelation - Love owns the day!

I wander beside a stream racing to catch up with
Its self somewhere below, slipping into a swirl.
It flows through its own beginnings and endings,
There is no division to distinguish their curl.

So it is in life and death, one running openly into
The other, until neither is visible, only pure motion.
They are one in the same, these forever spirits,
Diving in and out, breathing deep from each ocean.

The transitions of our choices of living and dying,
Are to change and live; or to stop and die; be moved
By the One who made all there is; sing the songs of
Creation; for in both living and dying we are Beloved.

Everywhere I turn, God is there!
Everywhere I am, God is!

Friday's Five

Five things for which I would put my hand in the fire.... this made me think....

I advocate strongly for Justice with Mercy. Believing that the underlying premise of my faith is that God created us all, and all that exists... and ...loves all of it! Completely! Passionately! Without condition! For all Eternity!

That love invites us, urges us, to get on board for all human-kind and all creatures are sacredly made and holy.
The ground we walk on is Holy Ground. We are called to humbly join hands with this loving Creator to help change ourselves, so we can be partners with God in healing the world.

In that light and walk:
I would my hand in the fire to bring children to peace within themselves and so, to teach non-violent ways of living in the home, school, street, workplace and world...for that to happen.

I would put my hand in the fire to bring about peaceful resolutions and right relations with our First Nations and with any others we have compromised by unfair, unequal planning.

I would put my hand in the fire by signing letters, writing poems, by asking questions, learning more about what needs to changed to save the environment from destruction.

I would put my hand in the fire to see all are fed, clothed, sheltered, had medical attention .... and loved.

I have put my hand in the fire by asking people to pray for all people, without judgement, malice, and with open hearts...for healing for the just and the unjust. For if we don't see God in all of us, we add strings that bind us and them and our lives intertwine at so many levels and purposes, for we are interdependent.

I believe passionately and completely in these things and more ... and have at times taken extraordinary action, as well as… marching, writing letters, spreading information, and the call to act. I live this way. My passion seems to grow as I grow. I see more, and it often hurts. God is at peace, and is peace, so is my stay and calm.

No, it doesn't always work, and I often will never know if it does either, but every bit done in love and respect will last and God will multiply. Trusting that is so, is crucial. I am happy to know the full picture belongs to the Creator, not me.

The question is...how long will majestic trees be able to breathe in our poisons and still be able to give us the oxygen we need to live? They are one of God's marvels.

Creation Sustainer

Walking the road, I see it ahead
Tall, narrow, broad places wide.
The home for many creatures
That crawl, creep, fly and hide.

Little bugs slip inside their holes,
Birds build nests, lay their eggs.
Young ones raise blind heads, to
Seek worms their hunger begs.

Branches spread low and high,
Stretched above friend and foe.
They shelter both life and death,
Stand against rain, wind and snow.

Leaves so tiny grow full and lush,
Green to start, then turn to greet
Fall in colours gold, oranges, red;
Then return to earth's soil to meet.

Trees take on many tasks of home;
Then another deep breath we take.
Leaves clean polluted air; breathe in,
Breathe out, sustain creation's make.

A Mandela is a meditative art form

A check-in with your soul...
How goes it with you this moment?

Knowing yourself creates balance and allows
the Spirit's flowing freer access to all we do,
say and think.

Let your mind be free, relax and just go ahead...

Draw a circle, that will represent yourself....
Draw whatever you feel like inside the circle. Colour it if you wish.

Look at it and reflect possible meanings for you.

This is a meditation and can help pin point where you are in that moment.
If you did another one right after, it would be different.

*Try this way too ...

Draw your circle as before but then
use your non-dominant hand to do the inside of your circle.
It will slow you down a bit, but it will give another side of
your thoughts as well.

Other things will arise to think about that are often missed in every
day busy, noisy, goings on. People traditionally have made them
with coloured sand and the waves come in and take them off.
It may takes hours to create one.

Remember not to get attached .. we can't breathe if
we don't let the previous breath go.

Try doing one before a meeting, then do another one after the meeting.

Are there differences? In how you felt? What it looks like?

One of the greatest gifts ... is to know ourselves.
It is not achieved by accident.

Circling Mystery, the poem below this written piece... is about life and death circling in and out of our lives. Changes mean a death, or loss, or change..they signify something is now new and different.

Often we shrink away from those changes, but once we get what they are about there is some new understanding. It is often brought by these new things that come and leave so often.

If we attach ourselves to anything....wealth, things, places, people... anyone, or anything, so entirely that we lose our hold on who we are, then we are in trouble. We always need to be within the scope of who we really are...our Essence.
We are tied to one truth only, that we are created by God. This is our major life-line, our Ground of Being. Our worth lies in this alone.

The poem below says we are transient and need not fear this, for we are all the same. So, we live well now, to the full now, give our best now, love fully now...no one can say if tomorrow will be here, or into transition.

We are not alone! This world belongs to God, not us; we belong to God. Enjoy the each moment!

A poem by Anne Weems speaks of a woman dying from cancer, someone visiting enters and hears her whipsering to God her thanks for the ride!

Wow! I can only hope I can see it that way when my time for transition comes...no matter what circumstances I find myself in.

If you gave up something this Lent, or decided to add more spiritual time, or a new dimension of acceptance in some way, may you know the love that led to this time and the fulfillment it leads to.

We aren't meant for suffering, but we sure can do that to ourselves and to others. Let us live within love, not anger and judgement.

Be at Peace in these times and know God's kingdom will surely not leave one soul out. Someone once said that if God is the Mother and father of all, it is God then, who says who our brothers and sisters are. God has surely done that. We all belong to the Ground and Source of all life.

Continued blessings of moving on toward the Light in this season of Lent.

Circling Mystery

We're transient as breath in and out,
Our impermanence is reality's play.
While mystery walks along with me,
Weaving rhythm into my life's way.

Time's gift we use for what we do,
It will be added to the holy stream,
Flowing on, breath drawing in life.
In love all is woven into the dream.

Our inner vision needs to own wonder,
Encourage more, by letting in doubt.
It offers a peek into the spirit's sway,
Leads to gathered insight to live out.

Illusions, marked endings, and such,
Are joined as threads of our breath.
This weaving wraps round us each to
Open gently, circles of life and death.

We're transient as breath in and out,
Our impermanence is reality's play.
Thus, mystery walks newly with me,
By grace, I seek my path each day.

Space Baby

She stood on tiptoe to catch a star,

As it zoomed by so quick

she tumbles over.

No matter,

I have another way,

So down her moon she slid.

Way up over its tip she soared

High into night’s space ..

Grasping the star’s edge of

Light…solidly she lands.

The star spun around her,

Or is she spinning

round it?

Gazing across the heavenly

Bodies, space babies walk, slide,

Then fly.

In her visions of them,

She suddenly knows

Who she is!

She rocks herself to sleep

On back on her moon,

Humming happily her sleepy

Lullaby, I am a space baby

And I belong

Here!

Lonely Debate

How is it that humans seem to seek
the edge of each abyss they create;
Then plead for help from a God left
behind, dismissed in lonely debate?

How can it be, we who do know God
go seeking to the edges of our night;
Yet, worry Love may elude our search,
while it leaps and dances within sight?

Answers lie inside such questions, and
why we need to creep so close to edges.
Making bridges across the abyss can heal
our incessant need to hammer in wedges.

Let it be then, that we create peace inside,
that no weapon of taser, bomb, bullet, ever
Again, is used to undo God's planned heaven;
so that humility unites us, now and forever.
